Lisa McCarthy

Physiotherapist

Lisa's journey into sports physiotherapy began in her hometown of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, where her passion for sports and helping others intersected. After completing her Bachelor of Kinesiology with Honours at Memorial University, she pursued a Master of Science in Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University to deepen her understanding of human movement and rehabilitation techniques.


Her career took her to Halifax Nova Scotia, where she honed her skills over the past six years, specializing in sports physiotherapy. During this time, Lisa immersed herself in the field, obtaining her Certificate in Sport Physiotherapy and continually seeking opportunities to expand her expertise.


What truly sets Lisa apart is her hands-on experience with athletes at all levels. As a dedicated team therapist, she has worked closely with various sports teams, including the Halifax Hurricanes in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC). Her involvement extended to national competitions, such as serving the team therapist for the Team Atlantic at the 2023 National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship and part of the host medical team for the 2023 Winter Canada Games in PEI and the 2023 North American Indigenous Games in Halifax.

Lisa has been involved in a number of local and international sporting events. From hockey, soccer, and rugby to cheerleading, SailGP and wheelchair tennis, she has provided care and support to athletes across diverse disciplines.


Her dedication to staying at the forefront of her field is evident in her pursuit of a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy, which will elevate her status as an internationally recognized expert in sports rehabilitation.
